📖 Verse 1


قُلْيَا أَيُّهَاٱلْكَافِرُونَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

Say, O Prophet, to the disbelievers: a clear separation stands between your way and mine.

۞ Qul ۞

Command to proclaim the stance of pure tawḥīd openly.

۞ Al-Kāfirūn ۞

Address to those persisting in disbelief who reject worship of Allah.

لَاأَعْبُدُمَاتَعْبُدُونَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

I do not worship what you worship.

۞ Lā aʿbudu mā taʿbudūn ۞

Absolute refusal—no compromise in ʿibādah with false deities.

وَلَاأَنتُمْعَابِدُونَمَاأَعْبُدُ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.

۞ Wa-lā antum ʿābidūna mā aʿbud ۞

Difference in creed and practice remains—no shared middle path.

وَلَاأَنَاعَابِدٌمَاعَبَدتُّمْ

Nor am I a worshipper of what you worshipped.
