📖 Verse 1

وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحًا

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

Allah swears by the galloping steeds whose panting is heard as they charge, emphasizing the gravity of what follows.

۞ العاديات ۞

Racing/charging horses in battle.

۞ ضَبْحًا ۞

Audible panting as they run fast.


📖 Verse 2

فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

By those whose hooves strike sparks—intensifying the scene of a rapid, forceful charge.

۞ المُورِيَات قَدْحًا ۞

Hooves striking stone and producing sparks.

فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحًا

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

By those who raid at daybreak—surprise and decisiveness.

۞ المُغِيرَات صُبْحًا ۞

Dawn-time assault/raid.


📖 Verse 4

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعًا

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

They stir up clouds of dust as they surge forward.

۞ نَقْعًا ۞

Dense dust cloud raised by the charge.

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعًا

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

They penetrate into the midst of the gathered enemy.

۞ جَمْعًا ۞

An assembled host/formation (the enemy ranks).

إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

Indeed, the human often shows ingratitude toward his Lord.

Extremely ungrateful—denies or ignores favors.

وَإِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

He himself bears witness to his ingratitude.

۞ لَشَهِيدٌ ۞

He is a witness against himself by words and deeds.

وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

His love of worldly good—especially wealth—is intense.

أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ
