The title describes the Messenger as wrapped in his garment when the command came.

📖 Verse 2

📖 Verse 3

Purification includes outward cleanliness and inward sincerity in deeds.

📖 Verse 5

Leave idols, shirk, and every outward or inward evil.

📖 Verse 6

Give without boasting, seeking superiority, or expecting a greater return.

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):

The keepers of the Fire are angels because of their strength. Their number is a test that distinguishes who believes from who denies: the People of the Book gain certainty, believers increase in faith, and doubt is removed from both, while diseased hearts and disbelievers question it. Thus Allah guides whom He wills and leaves astray whom He wills. None knows His hosts except Him, and this warning is only a reminder for humanity to do what benefits them and leave what harms them.

📚 Recap: Surah Al-Muddaththir

Summary of the Meanings:

۞ 1–7. Rise, warn, magnify, purify, and persevere ۞

Allah commands His Messenger to proclaim the warning with resolve, magnify Him alone, purify outward and inward deeds, abandon every form of evil, give without boasting, and remain patient sincerely for Him.

۞ 8–10. The difficult Day ۞

The Trumpet will be blown, creation will rise and gather, and the Day will be intensely difficult for the disbelievers.

۞ 11–31. Stubborn denial and the warning of Saqar ۞

A man blessed with wealth, sons, and ease knowingly resisted Allah’s signs and falsely called the Qur’an human magic. Saqar awaits such denial; its nineteen angelic keepers are a test that increases certainty and faith while exposing doubt and disbelief.

۞ 32–48. Accountability and the causes of punishment ۞

The moon, retreating night, and bright morning point to Allah’s greatness. Every soul is accountable for what it earns. The people of Saqar confess that they abandoned prayer, did not feed the needy, joined falsehood, and denied the Day of Recompense until death came.

۞ 49–56. A reminder for whoever takes heed ۞

Those who flee the reminder are compared to startled wild donkeys. The surah is a clear admonition: whoever wills may remember, yet all human willing remains under Allah’s will. He alone deserves to be feared and is worthy to forgive.

Surah Al-Muddaththir calls people to sincere worship, moral purification, patient proclamation of truth, and readiness for the Day when every soul is accountable.
