📖 Verse 1
تَبَٰرَكَٱلَّذِىبِيَدِهِٱلْمُلْكُوَهُوَعَلَىٰكُلِّشَىْءٍۢقَدِيرٌ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Blessed and exalted is Allah, abundant in goodness, in Whose hand is all dominion; His power encompasses everything.
The dominion.
📖 Verse 2
ٱلَّذِىخَلَقَٱلْمَوْتَوَٱلْحَيَوٰةَلِيَبْلُوَكُمْأَيُّكُمْأَحْسَنُعَمَلًۭا ۚوَهُوَٱلْعَزِيزُٱلْغَفُورُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah created death and life to test which people are best in deeds — those whose deeds are most sincere and correct. He is the Almighty, the All-Forgiving.
To test you.
📖 Verse 3
ٱلَّذِىخَلَقَسَبْعَسَمَٰوَٰتٍۢطِبَاقًۭا ۖمَّاتَرَىٰفِىخَلْقِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِمِنتَفَٰوُتٍۢ ۖفَٱرْجِعِٱلْبَصَرَهَلْتَرَىٰمِنفُطُورٍۢ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
He created seven heavens in layers, perfectly formed. You will see no flaw or inconsistency in the creation of the Most Merciful; look again and search for any defect.
The Most Merciful.
📖 Verse 4
ثُمَّٱرْجِعِٱلْبَصَرَكَرَّتَيْنِيَنقَلِبْإِلَيْكَٱلْبَصَرُخَاسِئًۭاوَهُوَحَسِيرٌۭ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Look repeatedly: your sight will return to you humbled and exhausted, unable to find any flaw in Allah’s creation.
Humbled.
📖 Verse 5
وَلَقَدْزَيَّنَّاٱلسَّمَآءَٱلدُّنْيَابِمَصَٰبِيحَوَجَعَلْنَٰهَارُجُومًۭالِّلشَّيَٰطِينِ ۖوَأَعْتَدْنَالَهُمْعَذَابَٱلسَّعِيرِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, made them missiles against the devils, and prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
And We prepared.
📖 Verse 6
وَلِلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟بِرَبِّهِمْعَذَابُجَهَنَّمَ ۖوَبِئْسَٱلْمَصِيرُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Those who disbelieve in their Lord will have the punishment of Hell, and it is an evil destination.
The destination.
📖 Verse 7
إِذَآأُلْقُوا۟فِيهَاسَمِعُوا۟لَهَاشَهِيقًۭاوَهِىَتَفُورُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
When they are thrown into Hell, they will hear its dreadful roaring while it boils intensely.
A roaring.
📖 Verse 8
تَكَادُتَمَيَّزُمِنَٱلْغَيْظِ ۖكُلَّمَآأُلْقِىَفِيهَافَوْجٌۭسَأَلَهُمْخَزَنَتُهَآأَلَمْيَأْتِكُمْنَذِيرٌۭ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
It almost bursts apart from rage. Every time a group is cast into it, its keepers ask them whether a warner had come to them.
Its keepers.
📖 Verse 9
قَالُوا۟بَلَىٰقَدْجَآءَنَانَذِيرٌۭفَكَذَّبْنَاوَقُلْنَامَانَزَّلَٱللَّهُمِنشَىْءٍإِنْأَنتُمْإِلَّافِىضَلَٰلٍۢكَبِيرٍۢ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
They admit that a warner came to them, but they denied him and claimed that Allah had revealed nothing, accusing the warners of great error.
But we denied.
📖 Verse 10
وَقَالُوا۟لَوْكُنَّانَسْمَعُأَوْنَعْقِلُمَاكُنَّافِىٓأَصْحَٰبِٱلسَّعِيرِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
They will say that, if they had listened with acceptance or used their reason, they would not have been among the people of the Blaze.
The Blaze.
📖 Verse 11
فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟بِذَنۢبِهِمْفَسُحْقًۭالِّأَصْحَٰبِٱلسَّعِيرِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
They will confess their sin; so far removed from mercy are the people of the Blaze.
So they will confess.
📖 Verse 12
إِنَّٱلَّذِينَيَخْشَوْنَرَبَّهُمبِٱلْغَيْبِلَهُممَّغْفِرَةٌۭوَأَجْرٌۭكَبِيرٌۭ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Those who fear their Lord while He is unseen by them have forgiveness and a great reward.
Unseen.
📖 Verse 13
وَأَسِرُّوا۟قَوْلَكُمْأَوِٱجْهَرُوا۟بِهِۦٓ ۖإِنَّهُۥعَلِيمٌۢبِذَاتِٱلصُّدُورِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Whether you conceal your speech or proclaim it, Allah knows it; He knows what the hearts contain.
The breasts.
📖 Verse 14
أَلَايَعْلَمُمَنْخَلَقَوَهُوَٱللَّطِيفُٱلْخَبِيرُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
How could the One Who created not know His creation? He is the Most Subtle, the All-Aware.
The All-Aware.
📖 Verse 15
هُوَٱلَّذِىجَعَلَلَكُمُٱلْأَرْضَذَلُولًۭافَٱمْشُوا۟فِىمَنَاكِبِهَاوَكُلُوا۟مِنرِّزْقِهِۦ ۖوَإِلَيْهِٱلنُّشُورُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah made the earth manageable for you; travel through its regions and eat from His provision. To Him is the resurrection.
The paths thereof.
📖 Verse 16
ءَأَمِنتُممَّنفِىٱلسَّمَآءِأَنيَخْسِفَبِكُمُٱلْأَرْضَفَإِذَاهِىَتَمُورُ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah warns those who feel secure from His punishment: He can cause the earth to swallow them and suddenly convulse.
The heaven.
📖 Verse 17
أَمْأَمِنتُممَّنفِىٱلسَّمَآءِأَنيُرْسِلَعَلَيْكُمْحَاصِبًۭا ۖفَسَتَعْلَمُونَكَيْفَنَذِيرِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Or He can send upon them a stone-bearing wind; then they would know the reality of His warning.
Then you will know.
📖 Verse 18
وَلَقَدْكَذَّبَٱلَّذِينَمِنقَبْلِهِمْفَكَيْفَكَانَنَكِيرِ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Those before them also denied the truth, so see how severe Allah’s repudiation and punishment were.
Before them.
📖 Verse 19
أَوَلَمْيَرَوْا۟إِلَىٱلطَّيْرِفَوْقَهُمْصَٰٓفَّٰتٍۢوَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚمَايُمْسِكُهُنَّإِلَّاٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ۚإِنَّهُۥبِكُلِّشَىْءٍۭبَصِيرٌ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
They should look at the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings. None holds them aloft except the Most Merciful; He sees all things.
The Most Merciful.
📖 Verse 20
أَمَّنْهَٰذَاٱلَّذِىهُوَجُندٌۭلَّكُمْيَنصُرُكُممِّندُونِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚإِنِٱلْكَٰفِرُونَإِلَّافِىغُرُورٍ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
No army can help people against the Most Merciful. The disbelievers are only in delusion.
Are the disbelievers.
📖 Verse 21
أَمَّنْهَٰذَاٱلَّذِىيَرْزُقُكُمْإِنْأَمْسَكَرِزْقَهُۥ ۚبَللَّجُّوا۟فِىعُتُوٍّۢوَنُفُورٍ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
No one can provide for them if Allah withholds His provision, yet they persist in arrogance and aversion.
Could provide you.
📖 Verse 22
أَفَمَنيَمْشِىمُكِبًّاعَلَىٰوَجْهِهِۦٓأَهْدَىٰٓأَمَّنيَمْشِىسَوِيًّاعَلَىٰصِرَٰطٍۢمُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
The one who walks fallen face-down in misguidance is not like the one who walks upright on a straight path.
Straight.
📖 Verse 23
قُلْهُوَٱلَّذِىٓأَنشَأَكُمْوَجَعَلَلَكُمُٱلسَّمْعَوَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَوَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۖقَلِيلًۭامَّاتَشْكُرُونَ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah brought you into being and gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, yet little is the gratitude you show.
And hearts.
📖 Verse 24
قُلْهُوَٱلَّذِىذَرَأَكُمْفِىٱلْأَرْضِوَإِلَيْهِتُحْشَرُونَ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Allah is the One Who spread you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.
You will be gathered.
📖 Verse 25
وَيَقُولُونَمَتَىٰهَٰذَاٱلْوَعْدُإِنكُنتُمْصَٰدِقِينَ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
The deniers ask when this promised resurrection will come, challenging the messengers to name its time.
And they say.
📖 Verse 26
قُلْإِنَّمَاٱلْعِلْمُعِندَٱللَّهِوَإِنَّمَآأَنَا۠نَذِيرٌۭمُّبِينٌۭ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Knowledge of its time belongs only to Allah; the Messenger is only a clear warner.
And only.
📖 Verse 27
فَلَمَّارَأَوْهُزُلْفَةًۭسِيٓـَٔتْوُجُوهُٱلَّذِينَكَفَرُوا۟وَقِيلَهَٰذَاٱلَّذِىكُنتُمبِهِۦتَدَّعُونَ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
When they see the punishment close at hand, the faces of the disbelievers will be distressed, and they will be told: this is what you were calling for.
Call.
📖 Verse 28
قُلْأَرَءَيْتُمْإِنْأَهْلَكَنِىَٱللَّهُوَمَنمَّعِىَأَوْرَحِمَنَافَمَنيُجِيرُٱلْكَٰفِرِينَمِنْعَذَابٍأَلِيمٍۢ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
Whether Allah causes His Messenger and the believers with him to die or has mercy on them, no one can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment.
The disbelievers.
📖 Verse 29
قُلْهُوَٱلرَّحْمَٰنُءَامَنَّابِهِۦوَعَلَيْهِتَوَكَّلْنَا ۖفَسَتَعْلَمُونَمَنْهُوَفِىضَلَٰلٍۢمُّبِينٍۢ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
He is the Most Merciful; the believers believe in Him and rely upon Him. The deniers will come to know who is in clear error.
Then you will know.
📖 Verse 30
قُلْأَرَءَيْتُمْإِنْأَصْبَحَمَآؤُكُمْغَوْرًۭافَمَنيَأْتِيكُمبِمَآءٍۢمَّعِينٍۭ
English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘di):
If Allah causes your water to sink deep into the earth, no one besides Him can bring you accessible flowing water.
Will bring you.

Summary of the Meanings:
Allah possesses all dominion and created death and life to test who is best in deeds. His creation is perfect and free of defect.
The people of the Fire admit that warners came to them, but they denied and failed to listen and reason. Those who fear Allah unseen receive forgiveness and a great reward.
The earth, birds, provision, resurrection, and water all point to Allah’s power. Believers put their trust in the Most Merciful, while no one can protect or provide independently of Him.
