📖 Verse 1

أَرَأَيْتَٱلَّذِييُكَذِّبُبِٱلدِّينِ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

Have you seen the one who denies the requital and the religion—whose denial appears in his harshness and neglect of obligations?

۞ Denial seen in behavior ۞

True faith in the Hereafter drives mercy and duty; denial breeds hardness.

📖 Verse 2

فَذَٰلِكَٱلَّذِييَدُعُّٱلْيَتِيمَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

That is the one who roughly repulses the orphan—void of compassion and justice.

۞ Rights of the orphan ۞

Faith shows in gentleness and support, not abuse.

📖 Verse 3

وَلَايَحُضُّعَلَىٰطَعَامِٱلْمِسْكِينِ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

He does not encourage feeding the needy, nor care about the poor’s rights—another sign of disbelief’s hardness.

۞ Social duty ۞

Calling others to good is part of faith.

📖 Verse 4

فَوَيْلٌلِّلْمُصَلِّينَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

So woe to those who pray—yet not with sincerity or care.

۞ Warning to the heedless ۞

Not all prayer is accepted; intention and attention matter.

📖 Verse 5

ٱلَّذِينَهُمْعَنصَلَاتِهِمْسَاهُونَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

Those who are heedless regarding their prayer—delaying, neglecting its spirit and humility.

۞ Heedlessness (sahūn) ۞

Habit without heart is blameworthy.

📖 Verse 6

ٱلَّذِينَهُمْيُرَاءُونَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

Those who show off—seeking people’s praise, not Allah’s pleasure.

۞ Riya’ (showing off) ۞

Ostentation nullifies reward and corrupts worship.

📖 Verse 7

وَيَمْنَعُونَٱلْمَاعُونَ

English Tafsir (Al-Sa‘dī):

And they withhold al-Maʿūn—simple everyday help and small items people need.

۞ Small kindnesses ۞

Faith shows in gladly offering even minor help.
